These are a paper alternative to plastic straws, which for a good many counters is a decision that has already been made for them. The stripe does the rest: red and green reads as holiday service without anything else on the counter having to change, and it holds up across a whole season rather than a single day of it.

Use them for milkshakes, iced coffee, sodas and floats, which is to say anything served in a cup with a lid. A case of 1000 straws is a bulk restock quantity rather than a small pack, so if the striped ones only come out seasonally, order against the length of your season and not the length of a weekend.
